The cheapest way in is the Astiko urban bus (route 78) or the KTEL service, at about €1.20–1.50 to the central station, with tickets from the machine at the stop. Both routes follow the northern coastal avenue and the E75, the island's main artery. In peak summer that road clogs badly with resort traffic toward Hersonissos and Malia, so metered journeys can balloon; a private VIP fare is agreed in advance whatever the traffic.
